When someone asks what my favorite part of being a part of Mike and Tricia Mornings and KISS-FM has been I always tell them that the time I've spent being a part of the charitable events we've done is my favorite thing. During our Easter Basket Drive and the Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive, I've gotten to know quite a few non-profits that help El Paso kids and one of the ones that does a lot of amazing work is the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

As a parent, I cannot imagine a more frightening and devastating thing than to get a terminal diagnosis for my child. Knowing that you are going to lose your child is hard enough to bear, but when the real world sets in, parents also have to wonder where they are going to stay when their child needs medical attention in a city they don't live in. That's where the Ronald McDonald Home Charity of El Paso comes in.

The Ronald McDonald House has been helping families locally for over 36 years with temporary lodging and support services while their terminally ill children get medical attention in El Paso. Most of the families they help have come from the surrounding areas including West Texas, Southern New Mexico and Northern Mexico. RMHC El Paso is the only local organization that provides this type of service in El Paso. Their goal is to keep families together by providing support, love and compassion to all families in crisis.

The world is a tough place and it is unimaginably tough when your child is ill and you need the help of strangers. I've known the lovely folks at the RMHC long enough to know that they not only have the best interests of the families they serve at heart, but they also have the best interests of El Paso at heart as well. I've been very blessed to be a part of their family for so long and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
