This Driver Has Chance to Become the First Arizona NASCAR Champion

Throughout NASCAR history, there have been drivers who have won a race while representing the state of Arizona. But so far, there has not been NASCAR champion from Arizona. This year, however, there is one driver who can do it for The Copper State, and that’s Alex Bowman from Tuscon, Arizona.

So far Alex Bowman scored his one win of the summer in 2024

Throughout most of the year, Alex was fighting to get his first win to lock up his spot in the NASCAR championship playoffs. His chance finally came at the road course in Chicago Street Race in July; he started the race in 8th place & was able to win the race to take the checkered flag and brought the #48 Ally Chevrolet to Victory Lane. Fun fact this was also the very race street race ever in NASCAR.

Currently Alex Bowman has a total of 6 top 5 finishes and 12 top 10s in 2024. He sits at 12th place amongst the 16 drivers that will be fighting for the 2024 NASCAR championship, along side his 3 Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott, William Byron & Kyle Larson.

This year is an improvement from the 2023 season, where Alex finished 20th in points. In 2022, Alex made the playoffs but was eliminated in the round of 12.

We will see how well Alex does in the 2024 season over the next 10 weeks. it definitely going to be challenging but, he is no stranger to being in the playoffs so he certainly has the ability to do it. Hey if Arizona can get one of their players their very first Stanley Cup in 2024, it's possible they could also see their very first NASCAR champion.
