Mr. Marcelino has been in the agriculture business for over 70 years and according to his son, the idea of growing pomegranates started in 2008 and Marcelino Orchard was created in 2010 with Marcelino planting over 500 pomegranate trees. He noticed pomegranates required less water and the health benefits of the fruit were countless. Right now the 2.5 acres has a total of 889 trees.

When is pomegranate season?

Now is the time to buy pomegranates! Though some varieties are harvested in late summer, pomegranates are in season from October through January. They are known as a winter fruit, and while many are prepping for their Halloween and holiday parties, pomegranates are a perfect addition to your charcuterie boards.

What are the benefits of pomegranates?

At Marcelino Orchard, you not only have the pleasure of picking your own pomegranates, but they also offer pomegranate juice. The seeds and juice offer a variety of benefits as they are packed with antioxidants, are low in calories and fat but high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals and are a heart healthy fruit!
