Yeah, I’m not even going to postpone the big reveal: OF COURSE, it’s the same guy who a couple months ago said, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat”.

During a church service.

To enthusiastic applause. Y’know…from all the good Christians that were there.

Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin posted a video on Sunday (since gone missing on the internet) in which he used something THAT HASN’T EVEN HAPPENED YET to attack African-Americans.

“They want to destroy our country. They want to talk about playing a Black national anthem before football games? I got a better idea, why don’t you go back to Africa and form your little football teams over in Africa and you can play on a old beat-out dirt lot and you can play your Black national anthem there. How about that?”

Yeah, how about that? Now, this is clearly a racist rant by a very racist man. It’s even more racists the more you know what the hell Couy Griffin is spewing about.

There have been reports, mainly on extreme right/white supremacist websites, that the NFL may “consider playing ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’ “ before some football games.

This is according to an “unnamed source”. Not, as Couy Griffin would have you believe, by the majority of African-Americans across the country. I think if you’d asked most black people (before this manufactured controversy) very few of them would have known what the “Black national anthem” even is.

Is Couy Griffin really so fragile that just “reports” from an “unnamed source” about something that “might” happen is enough to set him on a racist tirade? Or, as I suspect may be the case, is Couy Griffin just plain-old-racist and looks for any chance he can to spew his hatefulness out?

He doesn’t come across as hateful, though. Couy is a real wilting flower when it comes to defending the garbage that comes out of his mouth.

The El Paso Times July 29, 2020:

“Reached by phone Monday, Griffin said…the ‘back to Africa’ comment was a poor choice of words.”

It’s like when he said, “The only good democrat is a dead democrat” and then later claimed he was only speaking “figuratively”. Like if someone said, “The only good current racist Otero Country Commissioner is a DEAD racist current Otero County Commissioner” but then claimed they were only speaking “figuratively” then they would be in the clear and couldn’t be held responsible for anything they said. Yup, pardner, it’s that good ol’ plain-speaking say-what-you-mean cowboy sensibility that lets you know Couy Griffin is completely full of manure.

Also, although I didn’t know that song was “the Black national anthem” I was familiar with it…because it was in the Southern Baptist Hymnal that my church used when I was growing up. Why is Couy Griffin so antagonistic about a good old Southern Baptists hymn? It’s almost like he’s got something against Christians even though he claims to be a Christian preacher (when he’s not wishing death on half the U.S. population from the pulpit).

So, I researched “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. Turns out, it was written as part of a celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. You might remember Abraham Lincoln as the republican president who DIDN’T mock disabled reporters or say that he could grab women by their private parts and get away with it. Considering the republican president that Couy Griffin seems to really, really love.

Maybe you start to understand why Couy has such disdain for a republican of Lincoln’s character.

Otero county is part of our listening area so I say this with a great amount of respect and love:

Otero county, you should be ashamed to have a man like Couy Griffin as a resident…much less as an elected official. Do something about it…but only “figuratively”, please.
