This could be big headaches for those who commute on the west side using Mesa Street. The work on the SH 20 aka North Mesa Street rehabilitation project is set to begin today. Crews will be putting up construction signs along the work zone this morning to prepare for the beginning stages of the project. The rehab project will be taking place from Baltimore/Glory Road intersection all the way west to the intersection of North Mesa and Sunland Park Drive. The work will be done in about one-mile-long sections starting on the section of North Mesa Street from Baltimore Drive to Brentwood.

While the initial beginning of this construction project is today, the real traffic problems won't start until Sunday, April 19th. North Mesa will be down to one lane on the northbound side from Baltimore to Brentwood. The closure is expected to last 6 weeks. Then, the inside line will be closed for another 6 weeks. The entire project is set to be completed by Spring 2021. Find out more about this road construction project at the Texas Department of Transportation website.
