Why New Mexico is a Bad State for Singles
Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places? You probably have if you live in New Mexico and you're single!
Dating can be hell, but bad news for those in the Land of Enchantment, because you're going to have an even more difficult dating life.
In a new report by the personal-finance website WalletHub, they determined that New Mexico is actually a terrible state for dating- which is not good news considering the most romantic day of the year is right around the corner!
WalletHub compared the 50 states across 29 key indicators of dating-friendliness. The data set ranges from the share of single adults to the unemployment rate for singles to the number of restaurants per capita.
In their report, WalletHub ranked New Mexico at number 41- out of the 50 states. New Mexico has the highest share of single adults – 1.3 times more than Utah, which has the lowest share. It also found that New Mexico has fewer online dating opportunities, and low median annual household income- which could affect your dating life!
It also found that New Mexico has a high crime rate! Although, it also ranked pretty low on "romance and fun"- which I would argue could be wrong; I think New Mexico has a pretty vibrant night life and an array of wonderful restaurants!
You can read the entire study here and find where your state ranks.
As for those of us in Texas? I find it hard to believe that Texas ranked as one of the best states for dating; because dating can be just as terrible in the Lone Star state!
