The New Mexico Cannabis Control Division is considering banning a bunch of very popular, cannabinoids. Ones that don't even get you high.

After keeping marijuana illegal for decades and decades, the land of enchantment finally legalized it so peeps can get high when and where they want. Now, after all it took to get that done, the state is back in banning mode.

Now, (in a total WTF? moment), the state wants to keep the pot that gets you high legal and make pot that doesn't get you high, ILL-egal.

This won't really affect all the legal stoners who smoke or otherwise ingest 'da mota but it will affect those who use certain cannabinoids and will REALLY have an impact on the businesses who sell them.

What Do They Want Banned?

New Mexico's Cannabis Control Division is considering rule changes that would require all cannabis products to be lab-tested, aiming to eliminate hemp-derived products from dispensary shelves and potentially banning popular cannabinoids like CBD and CBN. - koat

The CBD and CBN products in question are very popular among those who need relief from pain and/or help sleeping but don't want to get high. For some dispensaries, this could be devastating as they are a big revenue source.

Rachel McLaughlin, a dispensary owner at Verdes Cannabis, expressed concern that products containing minor cannabinoids make up a large portion of her inventory.

She explained that extracts, oils for vapes, gummies for sleep and terpenes added to CBD products would be affected, saying, "It is almost the whole store." - koat

Pat Davis served on the governor's commission to legalize cannabis and he doesn't feel that this is something the NM Cannabis Control Division can even enforce.

He sees this as a job for the states environment and agricultural departments but, for now, it is up to the CCD to decide what happens next. We'll see ...
