The Time MythBusters Confirmed Retroflectors On the Moon in New Mexico
Intuitive Missions, an American space exploration company headquartered in Houston, Texas, confirmed that their space craft Odysseus, aka Odie, successfully landed on the moon!
The company confirmed that Odie was alive and well on the moon's surface after a journey filled with issues.
While discussing it on the Morning Show, we got our fair share of "moon-landing deniers"! I was a bit shocked that people were still in the belief that the moon landing was a hoax in the year 2024!
Then we came upon the topic of the Apollo missions and the retroreflectors left behind by the astronauts. Which reminded me of the MythBusters episode where they dedicated an entire episode to the moon's landing and all the claims of it being a hoax!
In the 2008 episode called "Moon Landing" the MythBusters conduct several experiments that moon landing deniers claim, and one of them led them to New Mexico.
The MythBusters traveled to Sunspot, New Mexico to the Apache Point Observatory to find out if Apollo astronauts really did leave special equipment on the Moon, such as reflectors.
These retroreflectors are essentially mirrors designed to reflect light back to its source. The purpose of placing them on the Moon was to create a means of precisely measuring the Earth-Moon distance.
It took them two tries, but in the end, that myth was confirmed!
This is further proof that, no, the moon landing was not faked. Astronauts have indeed gone to the moon!
