The freezing temperatures across Texas have spared most of El Paso from severe conditions, but local salon The Mix got hit hard. While Texas cities like Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas have been dealing with disastrous conditions due to a winter storm, the City of El Paso has stayed relatively clear. While we did endure some snow and freezing temperatures, our city was able to keep the lights on and warm our homes. Sadly, one condition that's harder to prepare for is damage that could happen from bursting water pipes in a business or home.

The Mix is a salon on the westside of El Paso where I've gone frequently to get beauty services. The upscale salon is located on a picturesque hill that overlooks the Upper Valley and parts of New Mexico. While many El Pasoans stayed home to avoid the inclement weather, the salon was dealing with an unexpected emergency inside the salon.

According to a GoFundMe setup, owners and staff of The Mix found out Tuesday morning that a pipe burst unexpectedly inside the salon causing water to flow in the business. The Mix Instagram page announced that the salon would be closed "until further notice" so they could fix the plumbing and infrastructure issues. This leaves many of the beauticians without a salon to perform their craft in and make a living.

The Mix has started a GoFundMe page to help them get their staff back to work as soon as possible. You can donate to GoFundMe at the website.
