This is the last week you can get free adoptions through the El Paso Animal Services shelter for the Clear the Shelter event. Since the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States, there have been lots of families opening their doors to foster and adopt new animals all over the borderland. For those out there who have been on the fence, there's still time for you to expand your family by one more furry member. The Clear the Shelters event is a nationwide pet adoption event that happens the entire month of August. NBC Universal works with animal shelters all over the nation to try and find as many animals as possible their forever homes.

Here in El Paso, the City of El Paso Animal Services shelter has been offering free adoptions the entire month, which means this is the last week you can help them clear the shelters! The Animal Services shelter is currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are still doing everything they can to get their adoptable pets in front of the public so you can see the pooch or kitty that's perfect for you. You can call Animal Services at (915) 212-8705 or email them at epasadoptions@elpasotexas.gov. The adoption team is available 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also see available dogs and available cats on the El Paso Animal Services shelter website. Find out more information about the Clear the Shelter event at the El Paso Animal Services Facebook page.
