Ascarate Lake Kid Fish Derby: El Paso Kids Can Fish for Free Saturday
Here’s a great opportunity to get the kids out of the house for a few hours and spend some quiet bonding.
El Paso County Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the Ascarate Fishing Club for another Kid's Fish Derby at Ascarate Park this Saturday.
What to Know If You Plan to Go
The Ascarate Fishing Club is hosting the free fishing tournament for kids ages 3 - 16 this Saturday, May 20, and a lack of fishing experience or gear isn't a problem.
Fishing Club members will happily teach kids fishing basics like how to cast, and fishing poles and bait will be provided for registered children to use during the event.
Just take along a cap, sunscreen, bug spray, water, a camping chair or two, and your driver’s license to check out a fishing pole and you're all set.
Kid’s Fish Derby is a catch-and-release event. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the tournament, and a free lunch will be served.

• Registration: 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. First 200 kids only. Register at the Pavilion. Parents will need an ID to register their child
