The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department’s outdoor movie series is back.

That means Mesilla Valley movie lovers can spend various Saturdays over the summer watching movies under the stars for free. "Movies in the Park" returns to Young Park with alfresco showings of recently released Hollywood blockbusters.

Movies in the Park

A different kid-friendly movie will be screened every other Saturday in June, July, August, and September. They’re all animated favs this year.

Among the flicks getting the inflatable screen treatment are Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Minion: The Rise of Gru, and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

Young Park will also be the meetup for Las Crucens who like to watch concerts in the great outdoors.

Music in the Park will get underway in late May through the end of August and take place almost every week in Young Park on Sundays and the Plaza de Las Cruces on a handful of select Thursday nights.

The free music series will begin as per tradition with the Mayor’s Jazz Fest at the Plaza de Las Cruces on Sunday, May 28 featuring performances by El Paso saxophonist Frank Zona, and Albuquerque’s Son Como Son, and conclude Sunday, August 27 with the world’s first and only heavy metal Mariachi band, Metalachi, at Young Park.
