Hopefully, you never get arrested, period. But, if you do find yourself on the wrong side of the law, while you're with your children, what exactly happens? Will they be taken away? Will you have the opportunity to call a family member to pick them up?

Texas lawyer and popular TikToker, Jesse Hernandez, shared a great video last week that gives insight into what will likely happen if you are arrested with your kids. Take a look at it below and learn what to expect.

He says that the majority of the time, a police officer will allow you to call someone to pick up your children. If you don't have anyone to call or can't find another adult to pick them up, there is a chance your kids will end up in state custody while a judge decides who to release the kids to.

State custody might sound like the end of the world to some, but it doesn't have to be. It might be the best thing for your situation at the time, or the catalyst that helps you get your life back together for the sake of your children.

Here's to hoping this never ever happens to you! Also, Jesse Hernandez really has a fantastic TikTok account with tons of information about Texas law that might interest you. If you're a TikTok user, I would highly recommend giving him a follow.
