Humane Society of El Paso’s 33rd Annual K-9 Classic Promises To Be A Paw-Some Event
Sunday’s forecast is looking to be sunny with a chance of DOGS!
The Humane Society of El Paso is hosting its 33rd Annual K-9 Classic and they are inviting the community to bring their four-legged besties to enjoy some fun in the sun at Ascarate Park this Sunday, May 1st.
“The K9 Classic allows us to serve animals who have been abused or neglected – bringing them back to health,” Executive Director Deb Benedict said. “But we also help with microchipping, spay and neuter services, and other necessary medical care.”
Each year, the Humane Society of El Paso spends more than $400,000 on medical care for the vulnerable animals in its care like Rosco, an 8-year-old American Bulldog mix that suffers from allergies.
Medical services begin as soon as animals arrive at the HSEP for intake, with a medical exam, vaccinations, emergency services, and more. To cover these costs, HSEP will host the 33rd Annual K-9 Classic, presented by Gyn Path Services, Inc., on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Ascarate Park.
The event is a 1.5-mile walk and I am excited to be the emcee for this amazing event that gives back to animals in need in our community.
The first 200 attendees will receive a t-shirt, and all participants can enjoy music, food trucks, dog and trick contests, and more.
The event is family-friendly and families can enjoy activities that will include face painting, dog training demonstrations, balloon twisters, games, arts and crafts, and a photo booth.
Event day registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk at 9 a.m.
Registration day of the event will increase an additional $10 so if this sounds like an event you are interested in then register soon: www.k9classic.hselpaso.org.
