Great news for the UTEP cheer and dance teams! The teams have been invited to go to New York and perform at the 95th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Both teams auditioned for the opportunity to participate in the holiday tradition and are excited for the opportunity but need the community's help to get there. There are 64 student athletes who wish to attend the parade and they are now trying to raise funds to finance the trip.

The teams need to raise $12,500 by October 29th and are asking for sponsorships or donations to help them get to New York. The head cheer coach Bianca Marquez told ABC 7 both teams are excited for a chance to represent El Paso at an event seen internationally.

"I think it (sends) a great message to everybody that not only is a border city representing the community and and our university but also the nation."

You can help support the teams by donating through the UTEP website.
