This week on September 28th, we celebrated National Voter Registration Day. The spirit of democracy has filled me and I want to let every El Pasoan know how to exercise their franchise.

Fall Is The Voting Season

It's that time of year again where elections will be upon us in no time this November, and you only have a month to get registered. In 2020 over 30% of the population did not vote meaning that one third of you shouldn't complain when you don't like how things are going or if our government works.

Participation Is The Only Way It Works

A functioning democracy is only functioning when every person who has the right exercises their franchise otherwise the system just doesn't work. I think it's important to remember that the ability to vote wasn't just given to us but has been fought for by people of every creed, color, gender, and religion. If that doesn't hit you in the feels then you probably didn't cry at the end of Old Yeller and you're a monster.

Get Informed, Get Involved

If your vote means anything to you get informed and get active, check where your local polling places are at, look up the issues and who your city rep is, and don't take for granted the hundreds of volunteers that help make our local elections work!
