After making history against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round in the playoffs, the Houston Texans will face off against a very familiar opponent: the defending NFL Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
While this is the first season CJ Stroud has played against the Chiefs, this is no way the first time these two teams have faced off against each other in the playoffs.
How many times have the Chiefs & Texans played against each other in the playoffs?
The first time was back in 2016; the Chiefs & Texans faced off against each other for the first time in the playoffs in the AFC Wild Card round. The Houston Texans had home field advantage but it was the Chiefs game the whole time; they would shut out the Texans by winning 30-0. This was back in the days with Alex Smith as KC's quarterback.
The other time the Chiefs played the Texans was in the AFC Divisional Round in 2020. The Texans would score way more points this time around but it would still be Kansas City getting the victory; they would win 51-31.
This would be the same season the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl, the first time since 1970. So far the Chiefs have the edge in the playoffs; they've won twice against the Texans but anything certainly can happen!
Has the Houston Texans won against the Kansas City Chiefs?
Yes they have, but it's been a while. The last time the Houston Texans beat the Kansas City Chiefs was in Week 6 during the 2019 season; the Texans would beat the Chiefs in Kansas City, 31-24.

The last time the Texans won at HOME against the Chiefs was in Week 2 during the 2016 season. The Texans won 19-12.
In total these two teams have played 15 games against each other since 2003 including earlier in the year in December, with the Chiefs winning 27-19. So far the Chiefs have more wins & their record is 10-5-0 against Houston.
This will be the 16th time both teams have played against each other. We'll see which team emerges victorious and moves on to the AFC Championship.
