Here’s Why You May Be Hearing Static When You Listen to Our Station
Yes, we are fully aware of it. Yes, we are working to get it fixed. No, we don't exactly know when it will be fixed. These are the answers to the numerous complaints we've gotten over the past week.
In case you missed it, or in case you, yourself, haven't had the issued- over the past week and a half, our analog signal has been a bit... static-y. Some have described it as a humming, or a buzzing noise in the background. Some have said the interference is so bad that they cannot stand it anymore and that they'll tune back in when the issue is fixed.
We've received your messages, your complaints, and your neckline calls that Buzz has played back on the show. First of all, thank you for your messages! Second of all, yes we are fully aware of the issue. We know! Some of us have don't have HD radios (which is where you won't hear the issue) so we've heard the static. It is a bit of a nuisance and for those who don't have HD radio or who don't listen on the FREE KLAQ mobile app or website, it can get pretty annoying.
The good news is that we are working on it. But there is also a downside to it. We know that it is a tower issue; lightning struck and has compromised our signal. The only problem is that with the heavy rains, the road to the transmitter site was washed out and remains in many spots both muddy and loose. What is needed to fix the site is a heavy and bulky piece of equipment so it's not so simple as to carry it up the long and steep incline- despite Buzz's grand idea of using pack mules.
This is only a temporary situation. We know it’s annoying, please be patient and in the meantime the digital signal has no annoying buzz. The stream over the app and on our website, as well as any HD radio is a digital signal. Only the signal coming from the transmitter is affected IF you are listening on an analog radio.
In the meantime, download the free KLAQ mobile app, it's easy and free. Some have complained that it is also sketchy, but the problems (if any) are fixed in seconds, so you're not missing out on much.
