After a long five years, the Green Hope Project and community partners have come together to invite Bordalo II to create one of his Trash Art murals for his series, Big Trash Animals.

As Green Hope Project prepares for Bordalo's arrival to the Sun City, they are actively collecting recyclable materials for the trash art mural, giving it that 3D effect.

Bordalo II is best known for using his creative skills to turn trash into sculpture and mural masterpieces while educating people about the environment and endangered species.

In August, the famed Portuguese artist will be in El Paso to create the first Bordalo installation in all of Texas with a 64-foot mural depicting a mountain lion at One San Jacinto Plaza on the corner of Mesa St. and Franklin Ave. in downtown El Paso.

Bordalo II will use recycled materials to complete the 3-D mural as part of his environmental initiative. Green Hope Project is collecting 15 pieces (each) of USED toy houses, luggage, trash bins, and more in small, medium, or large sizes; broken or dirty works just fine.

If you plan to throw these items out, give them a new life by donating them to be used on Bordalo's 3-D mural. Deliver to Joe Amador at Environmental Services at 701 Pendale Road. For more details, call 915-731-6271.

Green Hope Project is also teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse East to host a fundraising event on Saturday, August 6, from 10 am to 2 pm.

The event will feature art vendors, educational booths with wildlife rehabilitators, a short screening of the Bordalo II documentary, Life of Waste, and a movie screening of Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story, narrated by Matthew McConaughey.

All proceeds of the documentary screening will go towards helping to fund the mural downtown. For more details and to purchase a ticket, CLICK HERE.

So go through your closet, kid's playroom, and garage, find all that trash to turn into treasure, and be part of an authentic Bordalo II art installation in El Paso, TX.
