‘Hamilton’ is Great and so is Weird Al’s Tribute to the Musical
Well, I finally get what all the hub-bub was about a few years ago. I finally saw “Hamilton” over the weekend on Disney + and I can confirm what everyone has been saying.
“Hamilton” is one of the greatest musicals ever. It is so amazing on T.V. I can only imagine what seeing it in person must have been like. It’s one of those rare times where the thing itself actually lives up to all the hype surrounding it; and it’s not just the songs that are so fantastic either.
The stagecraft (notice the multi-rotational stage) is also superb.
So, I am DEFINITELY recommending that you watch “Hamilton” as soon as you can. However, I know time is a commodity in short supply and it may take you a while to get around to seeing it.
That’s why I’m posting this. If you don’t have two and a half hours (or if you don’t have Disney+) here’s a much shorter version that will only take you a few minutes to watch.
It’s Weird Al Yankovic’s polka tribute to the musical “Hamilton.” It’s just five minutes in length and, as near as I can tell, it features every scene, every character, and every song. It’s in a really, really fast 2/4 meter so it fits a lot in.
The only thing that could make this better is if you were able to see Lin Manuel Miranda’s face when he hears the Weird Al tribute to his magnum opus for the very first time. Oh, wait...you can TOTALLY see that, too. Here it is:
