Aside from a few shows surrounding their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Green Day have been quiet over the past year. And during the band's hiatus, Billie Joe Armstrong has been taking advantage of several cool opportunities. Another of those happened Wednesday night in New York City, as Armstrong re-teamed with his Foreverly collaborator Norah Jones for a last minute acoustic gig at the Bowery Electric.

As might be expected, the pair trotted out songs from their 2013 Foreverly album, which was inspired by the Everly Brothers' 1958 disc, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. They played the disc in its entirety, opening the night with "Roving Gambler." Fan shot video of the performance can be seen above.

Playing acoustic is nothing new for Armstrong, who performed at the Acoustic 4 A Cure benefit in San Francisco in 2014. The last year has also seen Armstrong play a show with his son Joey, lend his talents to new music from electronic artist Avicii, play shows with the Replacements and take on film roles in Like Sunday, Like Rain and Geezer.

As for Green Day's future, the vocalist revealed around the time of their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction that the creative juices are flowing for new music. “There’s definitely a great spirit going on. We’ve always been pretty charged up," said Armstrong at the time. He added that the group was working on new music before they got word that they would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He continued, “We’re going to take our time. We’re not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we’re honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album.”
