The rain just keeps coming in El Paso and it's going to very slowly start to go away. I wasn't here for the big flood of 2006, but I've certainly seen pictures. CLICK HERE to see an article that covers that flood.

One of the areas I've been told was really bad during the Flood of 2006 is the intersection of Redd and Resler on the west side of El Paso. I live over near there and as I was making my way through that intersection on Monday, it felt like we were just a few more hours of truly heavy rains from hitting monumental levels of water on the roadways. There were a couple of patches where water had collected that was easily a foot to a foot and a half deep.

If you're experiencing flooding at your place and would like some sandbags to hold off the water, you're in luck. El Paso Water is providing free sandbags at the following locations:

Central/Northeast:
Stormwater Operations Center 4801 Fred Wilson Ave.
Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.

East/Mission Valley:
Blackie Chesher Park 9292 Escobar Dr.
Monday – Saturday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

West:
Artcraft Booster Station 7830 Paseo Del Norte Blvd.
Monday – Saturday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In order to get the bags you will need to show a valid Texas ID or a current El Paso Water Bill. There is also a limit of 10 sandbags per visit. If you can't lift heavy things, you should bring someone with you who can help you load and unload the sandbags.
