KLAQ’s Great River Raft Race is back!

Join us on July 13th to ride the river and float the Rio Grande in your homemade rafts and boats. Race from the Vinton bridge to the Canutillo bridge, collecting points along the way by maneuvering obstacles. This year, we’re looking for creativity. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for best-looking crew and best-decorated raft.

Entry fee is $20 per raft plus $10 per person participating. Entry to the Great River Raft Race includes a free Raft Race T-shirt, thanks to Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, and tickets to the after party at Little Bit of Texas.

Celebrate with your team after the race at the Little Bit of Texas After Party by sipping on an ice cold beverage and listening to LIVE music.  Check out our rockin' line-up below.

Categories:

Participants must be 10 years of age or older.

• Kayak (1 to 2 people)
• Canoe (1 to 2 people)
• Small Raft (Up to 4 people)
• Large Raft (5 or more)

Obstacles:

The Balloon Frenzy - Collect balloons for extra points throughout the race. Points will be color coordinated and revealed at the after party.
Capture The Flag Challenge - Flags will be strategically placed throughout the race and you can earn points for each one you collect.

Time Challenge:

Canoes and Kayaks-

Earn 25 points if you make it down the river in 60 minutes.
Earn 15 points if you make it in down the river in 90 minutes.

Small Rafts and Large Rafts-

Earn 25 points if you make it down the river in 90 minutes.
Earn 15 points of you make it down the river in 120 minutes.

You can go as fast as you’d like, but don’t forget, the more points you earn along the way the better chance you have at the cash!

Prizes:

• Canoes and kayaks will compete for most points earned.
  • First place: $100.
  • Second place: $50.
• First place for most points earned for “Small Raft” wins $200.
• First place for most points earned for “Large Raft” wins $200.
• Best-dressed crew, overall competition, first place wins $100.
• Best Decorated Rafts for “Small Raft” wins $200.
• Best Decorated Rafts for “Large Raft” wins $200.

Check in Time 9:00 -10:45 AM
Race Time: 11:00 AM (approximately, please arrive early)
After Party: Approximately 12:00 - 6:00 PM After the race at Little Bit of Texas
