After a long 2020, El Pasoans are excited to welcome back both our hometown teams to Southwest University Park for the 2021 season. After a tumultuous 2020 year, many El Paso sports fans are breathing a sigh of relief knowing that America's pastime baseball and the worldwide favorite soccer is back in the Borderland.

In an even greater turn of events, both sports will be having their opening days less than a week apart!

First up are the Locomotives, El Paso's USL team who will be hosting their division rivals, New Mexico United at home on Saturday May 8th. There has been plenty of excitement over this game since it's the first one of the 2021 season. Lots of bars and restaurants near the ballpark have been gearing up in preparation for the game and we know plenty of El Pasoans and New Mexicans will be in town to support their favorite teams.

Whether you're a soccer or a baseball fan, either way it's going to be great to once again feel a little normal after such a harrowing time in our city. El Paso has seen so many lives lost, along with businesses that have shut their doors forever due to the pandemic. With our hometown teams back in business and welcoming us with open arms, hopefully our local economy will see a well deserved boost from all the excited sports fans back in the seats.
