After news broke that the Sun Bowl Association was canceling its 2022 Sun Bowl Fan Fiesta due to the convention center being used as a migrant shelter many locals were pretty bummed to say the least.

The Sun Bowl is a tradition for many locals and for many families that don’t attend the game itself, attending the Sun Bowl Fiesta is something they can do as a family to still join in on the El Paso tradition.

However, the most popular event of the Sun Bowl Fan Fiesta will still go one: The Battle of The Bands.

According to the Sun Bowl Association, the Battle of the Bands will be moved from the El Paso Convention Center to Fort Bliss.

Bands for both Pitt and UCLA will battle it out at Fort Bliss at Freedom Crossing on Thursday, December 29th.

This event is free and it is open to the public. However, if you plan on heading out make sure to prepare yourself ahead of time with the correct form of ID’s you’ll need in order to get on base.

Fans MUST have a valid REAL ID in order to get on base. You can enter Fort Bliss through Buffalo Soldier, Cassidy, or Sheridan Gates left lanes.

The event will start at 4 p.m. and run all the way to 7 p.m.
