Eastsiders who have been (im)patiently waiting to get their sweet tea and giant spud fix from El Paso's first McAlister's Deli won't have to stand by much longer.

After ironing out what I understand were permitting issues, the new deli restaurant is finally opening, and to celebrate some lucky customers will get free tea for a year.

For those not familiar with with McAlister's, they're known for their “craveable sandwiches," salads, and giant stuffed baked potatoes and the variety of toppings you can stuff it with. But it's "famous" for its sweet tea.

And on opening day, the first 100 customers will receive free tea for a year. And bonus; the first 50 of those 100 will also be given a tumbler. Sweet! (See what I did there?)

Documents I've uncovered show a second and third El Paso location are in the works. Future locations include one at 12241 Eastlake Blvd at Eastlake Commons across the street from Eastlake Marketplace.

Another is planned for the west side at 7040 N. Mesa in Colony Cove.

Opening Date

El Paso's first McAlister’s Deli, located at The Reserve at Rich Beem at the corner of Rich Beem and North Zaragoza, will officially open on Monday, June 13.

Hours of operation will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
