Hey El Paso – Does Walmart Owe You (More) Money?
Walmart seems to have goofed up and it could mean some folks in El Paso, Texas and elsewhere may have some money coming back to them.
Walmart has had to refund money to customers before and now they are going to have to do it again because of their canned tuna prices. Yes, canned tuna prices.
The incident(s) that sparked this legal settlement happened between June of 2011 and December of 2016 at Walmart, Costco, and Sam’s Club stores.
As part of a $200 million dollar settlement, Walmart is paying back customers who were gouged on their tuna in a price fixing scheme involving Walmart and major tuna suppliers.
In this case, StarKist and Lion Capital—two of the largest suppliers of canned tuna in the U.S.— worked together to inflate the prices of their products. This conspiracy directly violated U.S. antitrust laws, leading to higher grocery bills for millions of unsuspecting shoppers.
The affected products were sold in various canned formats, primarily the popular 5-ounce and 12-ounce cans of tuna. - eladelantado
How Do I Get My Tuna Money Back From Walmart?
It's pretty simple. First, check your mail for a letter telling you how to submit your claim and how to prove you bought the affected tuna. Receipts, credit card statements, loyalty card info, etc.
