Yes it's true. El Paso DID indeed have a Waffle House. But that was a long time ago. A VERY long time ago. We have many historic relics from the past regarding restaurants. For example we still have the original Arby's cowboy hats signs still standing in El Paso. So the big question is...where was the old Waffle House & what is it NOW?

I got the idea to go down the "EP Waffle House rabbit hole" after Mike our engineer brought up the fact that we DID have one back in the day. I asked where & he said it was around Airway...so of course I HAD to do some digging.

Where was the old Waffle House located in El Paso?

There's been some debate online on exactly WHERE it used to be. Unless you grew up in El Paso in the 80's & 90's, you'd have NO IDEA where it was.

One Reddit user posted that they (MIGHT HAVE) remembered seeing a Waffle House on the Northeast on Dyer St. They said the current diner is the New Clock Restuarant however it's been open since the 1960s so...I highly doubt that's where it was.

Thanks to Reddit, many more users commented that they DO remember seeing the old Waffle House across from Bassett, off of I-10. Not just on one different thread, but at least TWO threads in the El Paso subReddit. Another thanks to the user "No-Past2605", they commented that the building is NOW a Tacos Chinampa.

So if we are correct with putting these pieces of information together, that would mean that the Tacos Chinampa at 6110 Gateway Blvd E, El Paso, TX 79905, is where we USED to have a Waffle House in town. (You can still sorta see the remnants in 2026).
