If El Paso Had an NFL Team, These Would Be the Top Names
We already know there are currently 32 teams in the NFL & Texas has two of the most known teams in the league, the Cowboys & the Texans. However with the possibility of the NFL growing to 40 or even more teams, there's definitely the chance of El Paso getting its own team.
Which Texas city would be the likeliest to get an NFL team? What would an El Paso team be called?
Of course the next most likely city from the Lone Star state to get their own NFL team would be either San Antonio or Austin, but according to some people at ESPN, they included cities like Waco, Corpus Christi, & El Paso in their list of 100 cities that're the strongest candidates for an NFL franchise.
So that being said, I had some help from my coworker (Daniel Pedroza) & we decided to come up with a couple of ideas on what OUR NFL team would be called. But before we go into our picks, we asked people online the same thing & here's what we got:
Creative Names for A Future El Paso NFL Expansion Team

These are really good picks & in fact some of the names that Daniel Pedroza & I picked were on the list. The El Paso Stars were a choice we liked (because as mentioned, the Star on the Mountain is iconic here). The El Paso Banditos was another one, the El Paso Calaveras (Skulls) was another one, because of our rich Mexican culture & the Dia De Los Muertos celebrations.
We also considered bringing back some old names too like the El Paso Generals (which WERE the names of our old indoor football team), the El Paso Buzzards (if we wanna stick with a bird team) & the El Paso Diablos.
But the one we liked the most was the El Paso Scorpions.
Now will it happen? Maybe one day. But until then, we wanted to share some of OUR ideas if the NFL wanted to expand to FAR west Texas. We got you guys!
