El Paso Family Desperately Searching For Their Dog Lost At White Sands
An El Paso family is heartbroken after a fun family outing to a local national park turned into a desperate search for their beloved family pooch. Facebook User Natasha Fürchtgott Grünberg posted about how their family dog ran away during their visit to White Sands National Park. According to the post, they were visiting White Sands on Sunday when the owner fell on the dunes and the dog was able to run off.
The family explained in the comments that Canelo is a fast dog and that they ran after him but couldn't keep up. Park rangers were called to help assist them but by the time park rangers on ATVs were able to get there, Canelo was nowhere to be found. The family did everything they could in case something like this happened- Canelo is microchipped, was wearing a collar with identification tags on him, and even had an Apple AirTag on him.
Unfortunately, there isn't enough signal in White Sands for the Apple AirTag to locate Canelo. The AirTag only shows the last location he was at with his family. Canelo is a German Shorthaired Pointer and his owners say he is a sweet and mischievous pup. He is also microchipped and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. Canelo was last seen wearing his collar and leash in the picture. The picture was actually taken moments before Canelo ran off. The family is also offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can help them find Canelo. If you have any information or can help, please message Natasha on Facebook.
