This COVID-19 pandemic has caused everyone to reevaluate their financial situation. This includes the El Paso City Council, who just voted to keep the El Paso property tax rate the same. This means you don't have to worry about it going up in the middle of this financial crisis. The tax rate in El Paso will remain at .907% of the assessed value of all real, personal, and mixed property.

The city was already working with a tight budget and City Manager Tommy Gonzalez proposed that the city focus on essentials like street maintenance, police, and fire, and putting the quality of life projects on hold. Now, let's not think the city is completely broke though. Property values went up, so that .907% is still going to produce more money. About $5 million in new revenue is expected for the city to be able to spend.

You can see the entire city council meeting below.

If that's not entertaining enough for you, we can put some Parks and Rec on for you. We talk about this show frequently, and there's good reason for it. It was absolutely brilliant. The sad part about it though is that the stupid governmental discussions and citizens with asinine complaints aren't that fictional. They are unfortunately all too real. Below the Parks and Rec video, take a look at some people down in Florida complaining about having to wear masks. Yes, the video at the bottom is legitimately true, except for the obvious scenes with people like Leslie Knope.
