The City is helping businesses continue to social distance and serve customers by reopening the Fresh Air food court downtown! Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, many local businesses have struggled to keep their doors open and their businesses afloat, especially since so many people are now staying home. The Downtown Management District (DMD) has been working with small businesses to find new and innovative ways to make the community feel safer about heading out into public and eating out at restaurants again. One successful idea we saw earlier was the Fresh Air food court in downtown El Paso. Streets were closed downtown and tables were set up outside downtown restaurants, allowing for an expanded seating capacity than what is inside restaurants. Tables are socially-distanced and frequently cleaned and sanitized by staff so you can eat and enjoy yourself with some peace of mind.

The idea was such a success that it's now back, and this time the Fresh Air Food Court will be open all the way until the end of the year. The Fresh Air food court is open now and operates Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Fresh Air Food Court will again be located on Mills Avenue, between Mesa Street and Oregon Street in downtown El Paso. Cars will not have access to that section of Mills Avenue while the food court is being operated.
