Ever look outside your window and see a car parked right in front of your house? Isn't it crazy that the one time we do see a different vehicle other than our own we tend to raise our eyebrows a little? Who's parking in front of my house? Why are they parking in front of my house? Well, you've probably asked yourself is it legal for them to park in front of my house in the street here in Texas? The answer may surprise you.

• IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO PARK IN FRONT OF SOMEONE'S HOUSE IN TEXAS ON A PUBLIC STREET!

So, if you do see a car parked in front of your house on the public street it is NOT ILLEGAL for them to do so. They have every right to park on the street.

• BUT, IF THE CAR IS THERE PARKED FOR 24 HOURS YOU CAN HAVE IT REMOVED!

So, yes if someone parks in front of your house in the street they are not breaking any laws by doing so. Even though it might be weird to you that a strange vehicle is parked in front of your house, as long as it is on the street, it's all good.

But, here's the kicker.

If that CAR is parked there for more than 24 hours and has not moved you can actually have it removed by the city. Each city has different ordinances on this but most say that if the car is parked for more than 24 hours...it can be removed. Check your local Texas ordinance.

So the answer is yes and no. It is not illegal but after a good amount of time (24 hours) you can have it removed.
