Michael Bennett has been a rather polarizing player in his 10 years in the league. He's now on his 5th team in those 10 years, 4th in the past 2 years as the New England Patriots are sending Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys.

Bennett was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks back in 2009. He was waived by the Seahawks in October of that year, and quickly signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a few years in Tampa, he spent the next 4 back in Seattle.

That's when he started to bounce around. In 2018 he was traded to the Eagles, then the next offseason Philadelphia traded him to the Patriots. Now the Patriots have traded him to the Cowboys.

He's still a solid player who can help out with the Cowboys pass rush, but he saw his snaps decrease with the Patriots as the season went on.

  • Week 1 - 39 snaps
  • Week 2 - 25 snaps
  • Week 3 - 19 snaps
  • Week 4 - 24 snaps
  • Week 5 - 15 snaps
  • Week 6 - 11 snaps

Bennett was suspended by the Patriots for the week 7 matchup against the Jets for having a "philosophical disagreement" with his position coach.

This is a good move for the Cowboys as they are looking to bolster their pass rush, and all they had to give up was a seventh round pick. The pick could be changed to a 6th round pick if certain conditions are met.

There will certainly be questions if Bennett will become a problem in the locker room though as teams seemingly can't stand to have him around for very long.
