Indie rock band Cold War Kids are headlining this Saturday at the 2nd annual El Paso Forever benefit concert. Proceeds from the benefit go to the Because of You Fund which is part of the El Paso Community Foundation. The EPCF has been key in collecting and distributing donations in the wake of the August 3rd Walmart shooting in El Paso. Specifically, the Because of You Fund will be using the money for a girls music camp in El Paso called You Rock!

A local rock hero, Jim Ward, is instrumental in organizing the event and will be joining us on the Buzz Adams Morning Show at 9:30 am on KLAQ. Jim was a founding member of At The Drive-In and is the lead singer of Sparta. He’s also a board member of the El Paso Community Foundation and he and his wife Kristin founded the Because of You Fund. Listen Thursday at 9:30 and Jim is going to tell us more about the event and about how his goal is to grow it into a bigger and bigger music festival every year.

In addition to Cold War Kids you’ll also see Emily Davis and the Murder Police who have been opening on tour for Bad Religion and the band Sleepspent.

The ticket price is a surprisingly low $25 which you can purchase at Trickyfalls.com. In addition to Cold War Kids you’ll also see Emily Davis and the Murder Police who have been opening on tour for Bad Religion and the band Sleepspent. The show is going to be outdoors in the Union Plaza downtown next to Rocketbuster Boots.
