Celebrate And Support Women-Owned Businesses At The 3rd Annual ‘Mija Market’
The Mijas of El Paso are ready to celebrate their 3rd year anniversary and they are celebrating with cake, music, raffles, shopping, and more!
The community is invited to join the non-profit organization ‘Mija, Yes You Can’ for their 3rd Annual ‘Mija Market.’
“Our organization has gone through so many changes in the last few years but one thing that remains consistent is the love and support we receive from the community,” said event organizers. “So this market is not only a celebration for us, but for our community as well.”
For the second year in a row, the Mija Market will take place outside of local and women-owned business Chuco Relic.
Chuco Relic is located right off the freeway on 3750 Gateway Blvd. East. This outdoor market will take place Sunday, March 26th from 10 am - 3 pm.
The event is one of the largest markets in the city that features all women-owned businesses as vendors.
Guests will be able to enjoy over 20 women-owned businesses that will set up shop with products ranging from candles, jewelry, workout gear, pet accessories, and more.
“Vendors don't pay a fee for the market because this is also a celebration for them,” said event organizers. “We will be raffling off their items throughout the market so they can build exposure within the community for those who may not be familiar with their products.”
Guests can sign up for the Mija raffle which will take place every 20 minutes. No purchase is necessary to enter the raffle but winners must be present to accept their prize.
KVIA Sports Anchor Rachel Phillips will be the featured MC for the 3rd Annual Mija Market.
In addition to the market, the Mijas are asking the community to donate feminine hygiene products for “HERPantry.”
HERPantry is a volunteer ran organization that helps underserved families in El Paso have access to children's diapers, infant formula and feminine hygiene products.
“Feminine hygiene products are the first items to go because some women can’t afford to buy their children diapers and buy themselves the period products they need," Said Connie Moreno, Founder of HERPantry.
HERPantry volunteers will be at the market to provide more information on their work in the community and to collect all donated items.
Anyone who brings a donation of feminine hygiene products will receive a slice of Mija birthday cake and a ‘Mija, Yes You Can’ cookie courtesy of Honeybee’s Sweets & Treats.
Food truck vendors will also be onsite, and the ‘Mijas’ will have their Mija pop-up for community members to collect new Mija gear.
All proceeds made from the pop-up go back into the community for the nonprofit to continue its mission of empowering women through events, scholarships, mentorships, and workshops.
