Onate High School's football team just took a terrible hit. 4 of their 5 wins have been forfeited due to an ineligible player.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reported that an administrative error regarding a players transfer disqualified him. That decision is being appealed but, for now, they've lost credit for games that particular player participated in.

Despite this terrible setback, The Knights still have a shot at the playoffs! Principal Jim Schapekahm, appealed to Las Cruceans to support them in their fight get there:

“I would like the Oñate community to come together for our last few games and help our football team, coaching staff and Oñate family make a push for the playoffs during this challenge.” “We are a family, both on and off the field, and a family sticks together through the good times and the tough times. We need to support these young men now more than ever and the fans’ support and attendance at the games is necessary and appreciated.”

The Knights only 2 losses this year were to the number 1 and 2 ranked teams. With their talent, and everyone's support, I bet they make those playoffs!
