Today, October 21, 2015, is the so-called #FutureDay, the day in the future that Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled to in Back to the Future II. There’ll be a lot of celebrating and commemorating that day today (this year also is the 30th anniversary of the original Back to the Future opening in theaters), and here’s something pretty neat: Doc Brown’s original van is parked outside the real Twin Pines Mall for fans to visit and take pictures with.

Back in 1984, director Robert Zemeckis shot scenes for the Twin Pines Mall (and Lone Pine Mall) at Puente Hills Mall in Industry, California. In that very parking lot today (which still bears black tape markers on the ground from where the production filmed), the original “Dr. E. Brown Enterprises” van is parked, complete with the set dressing, including Einstein’s Milk Bones.

It’s all from We’re Going Back 2015, a four-day Back to the Future festival in California starting tonight and continuing through the weekend. Unfortunately at this point, most of the events — like an Enchantment Under the Sea recreation/party and custom Universal Studios tour — are sold out, but there are still some tickets available for some pretty awesome events including a hoverboard track in a recreation of Hill Valley with Biff’s original gang members.

The good news is that all profits from this festival will go to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, so it’s a chance to have fun while supporting a good cause.
