Bad news if you were planning on just showing up to one of the military COVID-19 testing sites in town. These locations are all by appointment only, except one. With the number of COVID-19 cases in Texas skyrocketing, it's no surprise many El Pasoans are now rushing to the free testing sites to see if they have the virus. The City of El Paso has had two consecutive weeks of daily, triple-digit positive COVID-19 cases in the county. According to public health officials, this morning El Paso saw an additional 248 coronavirus infecitons, combining with the previous cases to a total amount of 2,879 active cases in the county.

While you may be inclined to rush down to the nearest military testing site to get your COVID-19 test done, the City of El Paso wants people to know they need to make an appointment before they go down to their local testing site. The city says there has been a large response from the community and the testing sites are near capacity. Due to this response, residents are now being encouraged to schedule appointments to get tested with the Texas Military Department's COVID-19 testing sites. Testing sites are by appointment only, with the only exception being the Nations Tobin Park, which is a walk-up facility. Appointments are available only 24 hours in advanced so make sure you are signed up through the Texas Free COVID-19 Testing website.

COVID-19 testing is also available through:

  • Anthony/Canutillo ISD
  • Walmart
  • CVS
  • Project Vida
