It looks like BJ at the Movies will live on after all! Alamo Drafthouse has announced that they will be reopening their west side location on Tuesday, August 25th- with the promise of a new release on opening day! This coming directly from Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen, CEO and president of Triple Tap Ventures LLC, the Houston company that owns the Alamo franchise for West Texas and Houston. Billingsley-Michaelsen also confirmed that construction on the east side Alamo Drafthouse will continue on schedule despite the pandemic.

Billingsley-Michaelsen says that the opening will come just in time for some studios' big openings like "The New Mutants" opening on August 28th, "Bill & Ted Face the Music" opening on August 26th and the highly anticipated "Tenet" that is set to debut on September 4th. To open up viewings, Alamo Drafthouse will be showing "Unhinged," the new Russell Crowe thriller. Tickets for "Unhinged" go on sale August 13th, which you can buy here.

Alamo Drafthouse is also implementing some new rules for their reopening that include buying your tickets and ordering your food ahead of time online, temperature checks and masks will be enforced. Seats will also be buffered throughout the theater to enforce good social distancing. "Tenet" is the movie Buzz and I wanted to see as a way to bring back "BJ at the Movies" but it kept getting pushed. While some Alamo Drafthouses across the nation were already opening for private parties, we had waited for confirmation on the opening of the west side location.
