My air conditioning system went out and for about 6 days, that also happened to be the hottest days of summer ... so far ... it was hot AF.

READ MORE: Ways To Cool Off In El Paso

Summer in El Paso is no joke boy. On a good day it's stupid hot and if you have to be outside, I feel for you. Seriously, this heat can kill ... If you or anyone you know is having trouble with the heat, remember there are cooling centers all over El Paso.

Being inside, with a broken AC is worse though, trust me. I just found out, the hard way, exactly how bad it can be. I don't know how people without AC survive.

No AC IN El Paso

Long story short, it was an electrical issue ... a capacitor went out and while the techs were fixing that, they noticed the thermostat was acting up so they put in a new one on Thursday.

Friday, the new one's acting up and eventually fails completely. We'd already dealt with a super hot couple of days fixing the first issue and now the new problem hits on a weekend. Nobody is available and it was the most miserable weekend of my life - at 3am, it was almost 90 ... inside.

Monday

The comedy of errors continued on Monday when somebody finally came to look at it. Of all the components that could have been the problem, it was the one they don't keep in stock so it had to be ordered. Meanwhile, my dog's got a perpetual, WTF look on her face.

They couldn't order it though until insurance approved it which they claimed they couldn't due to a paperwork error. I totally went off on them, the paperwork got "fixed" and the tech was able to get the part.

Tuesday

First thing in the morning, they start replacing damn near every part to make sure everything was perfect. It wasn't ... it wouldn't start up. Their boss came to look and he couldn't figure it out either. Eventually, he isolated the problem ... the circuit board that caused the initial problem, that we were finally able to order, was bad..

Tuesday Night

They managed to get air flowing while the new board was ordered and it breaks down again in a couple of hours. the temp in the house is over 90. Can't do anything until morning though so, another miserable, sleepless night. I used to think I could sleep under any conditions - not 90 degree heat apparently. Sleepless night #6.

Wednesday

So, there's not another circuit board in town. It has to be ordered but will, thankfully, be overnighted and should be set up Thursday. Or maybe Friday.

It's barely Wednesday afternoon as I write this. The tech's on his way though to try and keep the AC's "band - aid" working.. I'll update this after he leaves ... if I'm still alive.
