9 Classic El Paso Logos & Characters We All Know & Miss
There are certain things in El Paso that EVERYONE misses. For example: Western Playland at Ascarate Park, or Chopsticks at Cielo Vista. For the most part, things we miss usually stay in the past, but sometimes things we miss sometimes make a comeback- like Chopsticks!
For the rest of the stuff we miss, all we have are the memories, or sometimes we have Twitter.
Twitter user @SuperSaul50 began a thread that if you're from El Paso, you would totally understand. As an attention grabber, this is what began the thread:
The most iconic caricature in El Paso history is right! If I remember correctly his name was Biggie the Bag and he was Big 8's mascot. Remember Big 8? They're all Food King's now- but I digress.
From that Tweet on began a thread of the most nostalgic icons in El Paso that we miss dearly like:
The Wet N Wild frog. I think they still use him, but I feel like they could be utilizing him more.
Then, there's the Diablo's logo- which just brings back a flood of memories, but also raises the question "why did they use a chile for the Diablos?"
And let's not forget the other iconic grocery store El Paso had, Silva's Super Market.
Of course, we can't forget who taught us all to swim, Gus & Goldie! Who I could have sworn were suppose to be brother and sister.
Aside from Chopsticks, we can't forget the other most missed restaurant in El Paso, and our friend Pancho, who we raised whenever we wanted a refill.
And before we became adults who actually pay their own water bills now, this guy seemed fun, but looking at my bill I kind of want to punch him.
While on the topic of missed mascots, has anyone checked on the Amigo Man? I hope he's doing well.
And finally, one of my personal favorites, the Good Time Store.
The Good Time stores had SLUSH PUPPIES- those are delicious!
