As a kid, I would always get so pumped up about where we were going to go during spring break or summer break. Most of the time it was during the summer that we would hit the road and check out national parks like Dinosaur Valley in Glenrose, or just cruise south of Abilene to Buffalo Gap State Park.

Of course, you don't have to be a kid to enjoy some of these amazing state and national parks. But, they sure will bring the kid in you out.

It doesn't matter if you're into swimming, hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing/kayaking, or any number of outdoor activities, there is something for any adventurer right here in the great state of Texas.

Just remember that here in Texas we experience serious summer heat so there will be times our parks aren't open or are limited in use, due to fire danger and low water levels. So, please check with your favorite park before making the jaunt to their front gate.
