Marco Marsala runs a company that looks after servers and internet connections storing files for all kinds of different websites. (Well, they were trying to anyway.) He accidentally entered a bad line of code which told the computer to wipe out everything. Including Marsala's customers websites! Marsalas said:

“I run a small hosting provider with more or less 1535 customers and I use Ansible to automate some operations to be run on all servers.” “Last night I accidentally ran, on all servers, a Bash script with a rm -rf {foo}/{bar} with those variables undefined due to a bug in the code above this line.”

He said the code also deleted all of his backups but, later, claimed the whole story was a hoax to generate advertising. Hmm...
