When I heard that the NCAA had empowered president Mark Emmert to blow Penn State out of the water, I reiterated my thoughts that any penalty coming from the governing body of college sports would be like throwing a match into a raging forest fire.
There has been a lot of response to the column about Joe Paterno, especially as it regards the picture of his statue below. Penn State says there's no way that statue is coming down despite intense criticism.
I think they ought to bring the thing down, too. It's because of the words next to the statue: "Success With Honor". It's been all but proven in court that Penn State's success in football was not achieved honorably. And while I respect the university's right to keep the statue, not everyone with a can of spray paint will. Just sayin'.

Bracketology noun
1. A term invented by some ESPN marketing wonk implying that there is actual science behind picking which schools will be selected to play in the NCAA Tournament; made to stick because ESPN owns the TV rights to the entire world except for, ironically, the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and don't you just know they're pissed about that.
A lot of people debate who the best bands in the world are. Everyone has their own opinions on everything from the best singer, guitarist, drummer...heck, people probably argue who the best groupies are! (I love the Metal Sludge groupie chart, by the way.)
Mark Wahlberg's recent comments in an interview with Men's Journal were a topic of debate with Buzz Adams and comedian Robert Hawkins this morning.
