Heavy metallers Mastodon head out on the  ‘Heritage Hunter’ tour tonight (April 4) — a massive, co-headlining trek across the country with fellow hard-hitting act Opeth. Mastodon are touring in support of their current release, ‘The Hunter,’ and when it comes to the music that made it onto the album, guitarist Bill Kelliher describes it as “kind of a rebirth.”

Mastodon singer-bassist Troy Sanders recently sat down with Hysteria Magazine during the band’s residency on Australia’s touring Soundwave Festival. During the interview, Sanders took the opportunity to dispel the rumors once and for all about a reported altercation between Mastodon and System of a Down, which put Mastodon singer-guitarist Brent Hinds in the hospital.

As the Grammy Awards are quickly approaching this Sunday (Feb. 12), the nominees for the ‘Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance’ category are readying their tuxedos and preparing their speeches. Foo Fighters, Dream Theater, Mastodon, Megadeth and Sum 41 are all nominated for the precious prize and have been sharing their excitement with a cluster of new quotes.

Rock on the Range returns to Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on May 18-20 and this year’s monster lineup includes a little something for everyone, whether you’re a metal head, a headbanger or just a melodic rock junkie.
