While the city is ecstatic the Border West Expressway is finally open, there is still quite a lot of construction happening on El Paso Roads. We've finally seen some of the major road projects coming to a close, and the improvements are making the commutes home better and better! Still, there are some projects that are just getting started or are getting the finishing touches. To make sure you're not stuck sitting in traffic due to construction on your commute, you've come to the right place. To find out what major freeway and road closures are happening this week, check out the list below.

I-10 Connect

Friday, Dec. 18 Monday, Dec. 21, & Tuesday, Dec. 22 (9 am - 4 pm DAILY)

  • Ramp N which connects eastbound Loop 375 to northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic.

Monday, Dec. 21 - Wednesday, Dec. 23(9 am - 4 pm DAILY)

  • The shoulder on eastbound Loop 375 between US 54 and Coles Street will be closed.

West Area Closures

Transmountain Project

Daily until further notice.

  • Transmountain west and eastbound between US-54 and Tom Mays State Park reduced to one lane in both directions. Bike lane closed.
  • Crews will be working on roadway, guardrail, asphalt repair, and concrete placement.

US-54 Overlay Project

Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 through Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020

7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • US-54 north and southbound between New Mexico State Line and McCombs alternate lane closures.
  • Crews will be striping, removing and installing guardrail, and milling and placing asphalt.

Guardrail Repair Project

Monday, Dec. 21 (9 am - 4 pm)

  • North Desert between Northern Pass and Trade Center left lane closed.

Tuesday, Dec. 22 (9 am - 4 pm)

  • Gateway South between Transmountain and Diana right lane closed.

Wednesday, Dec. 23 (9 am - 4 pm)

  • North Desert between Transmountain and Enchanted Springs right lane closed.

East Area Closures

Loop 375 Frontage Road Project

Monday, Dec. 21  - Wednesday, Dec. 23 (7 am - 4 pm DAILY)

  • South Americas Avenue (frontage road) southbound to northbound turnaround will be blocked occasionally near Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR)
  • South Americas Avenue southbound to northbound traffic will remain open and be flagged through work zone

Monday, Dec. 28 - Wednesday, Dec. 30 (7 am - 4 pm DAILY)

  • South Americas Avenue (frontage road) southbound to northbound turnaround will be blocked occasionally near Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR)
  • South Americas Avenue southbound to northbound traffic will remain open and be flagged through work zone
