One Big Reason Car Thieves Will Or Will Not Take YOUR Car
It used to be the flashy, new rides that were most likely to be stolen. Not anymore.
Newer model cars come with cool anti - theft stuff like special key codes, satellite tracking systems and other gadgets. It's the older models ... pre - 2000 ... that are most in jeopardy these days!
An article at msn.com lists the top 10 most stolen late 90's vehicles as:
- 1. Honda Accord
- 2. Honda Civic
- 3. Chevrolet Silverado, C/K Series
- 4. Ford F-Series
- 5. Toyota Camry
- 6. Dodge Ram
- 7. Dodge Caravan (Seriously?)
- 8. Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee
- 9. Toyota Corolla
- 10. Nissan Altima
Don't feel 100% safe with a newer model though. Car thieves are far less likely to take those, but that doesn't mean they won't! A National Insurance Crime Bureau study lists the 10 most stolen 2013 models as:
- 1. Honda Accord
- 2. Honda Civic
- 3. Chevrolet Pickup (Full Size)
- 4. Ford Pickup (Full Size)
- 5. Toyota Camry
- 6. Dodge Pickup (Full Size)
- 7. Dodge Caravan (Again? WTF?)
- 8. Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
- 9. Toyota Corolla
- 10. Nissan Altima
According to the El Paso Times, the top 5 most stolen vehicles in El Paso in 2013 .. regardless of model year .. were:
- Ford F-150
- Chevrolet Silverado
- GMC Sierra
- Honda Civic
- Dodge Ram 1500
HAA! No mini vans on that one!
