This years season is one game away from being over and the NFL is looking at a big change for next year!

As pretty much everyone knows, in the NFL, there are three ways to get points on the board.  Make a touchdown, kick a field goal, or get a safety.  Following a touchdown, teams can either kick an extra point or try for a 2 point conversion.

For now anyway.  Next year, the extra point may be history.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said:

“The extra point is almost automatic.” “I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd. So it’s a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play."

If they go through with this, touchdowns would be worth 7 points.  Teams can settle for that or try to convert and get 8 points.  If they fail though, a point would be deducted making the TD worth only 6.

What do you think?
