Motorcycle Monday: Hurricane Irene Dampens Massachusetts And Theres Drama In Dungey Land!!

Hurricane Irene tried to muddy things up a tad at Southwick, but couldn’t do it; though Dungey was (almost) left high n dry!!

Time for Motorcycle Monday on KLAQ!!  Brought to us by Santa Teresa Motorsports in Santa Teresa at 910 Livingston.  Dirt, street, parts, mechanics … whatever you need, they got!!  Check out the Victory line of cruisers they have. SWEET bikes, very affordable and you can test ride one pretty much whenever you want.  Set your ride up here at victory.com.

The track at Southwick is a sand track so, while it did get really damp and the rain was heavy at times; the track held together nicely!!

Chad Reed does great this weekend pulling laps at just under 2 minutes on a great track (known as moto-x 338) that just keeps getting better.  (In the lites, tomac has the fastest lap at 2 minutes exactly!)

In Moto 1 it’s Dungey and Metcalfe out front, everybody making the most of all the extra traction you get with wet sand and, ultimately, Dungey takes the win!  Barcia and Reed wind up leaving the race with mechanical issues.

This win gets Dungey his choice of what starting gate he wants … he just doesn’t get to start.  In a VERY dramatic, nail biting, holy sh** moment; his bike stalls at just as the race is to begin and won’t restart!!  The race starts, still no Dungey … finally, a minute or so behind the front runner, it fires!  Dungey leaps on it and hauls ASS.  This is how good the guy is: He’s on a wet sand track, he’s about a minute behind, he’s lost his focus and he’s panicking.  he STILL manages a 7th place finish!!  Nice!

He gets third for the day with Villopoto in second and Metcalfe in first. Hell of a day, huh??

In the lites, it’s Rattray in first, then Dean Wilson and third goes to Blake Baggett!  Man what a day!
